"I spent many years getting my degree, but found that everything I wanted to learn I had to teach myself."

She has worked in many different mediums over the years from pottery and sculpture, photography, carving life-size songbirds and jewelry to textile art and airbrushing.

"The airbrush has really been my greatest enjoyment. It has allowed me to paint in a way that other paints and pencils could never let me do. But lately I've gone back to using colored pencils."

Over the years Kathie has won many awards for her various art pieces.

"My passion has always been the big cats. I love the tigers and jaguars. Since I became a falconer I have been working on the birds of prey. Changing from fur to feathers was not that easy. Now, I really enjoy doing them."

She lives in Northern California with her husband, daughter, many cats, dogs and birds.
